Amritas Story
About her
I am Amrita Berndt, 27 years old, hailing from the northern part of Germany. I grew up in the countryside, and when I reflect on my childhood, I've always been deeply connected to nature, spending a lot of time outdoors. As I grew older, the significance of aiding my mother in managing daily life and securing financial stability for us became more apparent. This allowed my siblings and me to lead lives parallel to our classmates. I take pride in my mother, who, in a foreign land (Germany), consistently summoned the courage and strength to fight for us and our future, enabling me to be here in Mexico now, establishing my own project.
Looking at my family, the influence is profound: my father, who dedicated himself to a nonprofit organization until the end; my mother, who initiated a project for women in India; and my sister and brother, advocates for equality and fighters against global inequality in their careers. It becomes clear to me why it's now my turn.
My educational journey, especially in the social sector, culminated in completing nursing training. Did you know that many hospitals prioritize profit over the well-being of people? This realization fueled my desire for more. Following my hospital work, I embarked on a journey in International Emergency and Disaster Relief. I quickly realized that assisting others could be challenging, yet surprisingly straightforward. With my partner, we started crafting our own ideas, giving birth to the "Almar Surf and Skate School."
Amidst my exploration of diverse facets of life, I've learned that genuine change begins at a personal level. My story is woven with the threads of family, experiences, and the passion to assist others. I look forward to sharing more about my journey through ups and downs, and I invite you to join and support us on our path.
